Former Ohio GOP Chairwoman Jane Timken formally announced her candidacy for Ohio’s Senate seat that will be vacated by Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) in 2022, after he announced that he will not seek reelection.
I like her. Saw her interviewed prior to the election and she was confident Trump would win Ohio.
She seems pretty darned MAGA to me.
Josh Mandel already declared and he was (lip service at least) was not being milquetoast about his positions and Trump.
Republicans need a woman to stand up for them. Embarrassing but necessary.
But but will she get the nod from Mitch?
Good to have someone with solid accomplishments on her resume but comments are not very encouraging.
Don’t think she’ll need it-Ohio is Trump country.
She is a fraud. Stood by and watched the tiny tyrant DeWine destroy the state...then tried to prevent anyone from running against him in 2022.
In 2016, she supported Kasich. That tells you all you need to know.
She goes whichever way the political winds are blowing.
Fraud.
“...she was confident Trump would win Ohio.”

I was confident Trump would win Ohio too, and said so here multiple times. It honestly was not a difficult prediction to make. The only wildcard was weather Ohio also had election fraud.
I am worried that she is a DeWine/Kasich type throwing her hat in because Mandel seems to Trump/populist for them.
“As Ohio Republican Party chairman, I cleaned house of the Kasich establishment who tried to elect Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden,” she continued. “I unified the party and delivered a second, decisive Ohio win for President Trump.”
Women care more about their families than men do. Men are too often out to lunch on family matters. These women with children just may be our secret weapon towards getting the women’s vote.
She is a fraud and will say whatever she thinks will help her win.
See my earlier post.
Don’t let her fool you.
I would gladly vote for any woman or man who was MAGA.
Period.
In fact, as of right now for 2024 (assuming Trump does not run) I am Noem (1A) and DeSantis (1B).
I got chided for suggesting Noem might be the better national candidate because of her softer edges in comparison to DeSantis (I love his piss and vinegar) because that plays better with some voters, but its true. If she was pure MAGA with a calm voice and demeanor and a smile it is harder for the media to characterize her.
I really like DeSantis also and would have no problem voting for him, but you have to admit that much of Reagan’s appeal was in his friendly demeanor and smile. Sadly, our politics are often as much about how you say something as what you say. It’s just fact.
She forgot to mention that she supported Kasich over Trump in 2016.
She will say anything to get elected.
To be clear - I based my opinion on the only interview I ever saw with her and she seemed to be pure MAGA. I am not an Ohio voter so I don’t really count and can only hope she is the real deal and not another republicrat.
Got it! I do live in Ohio and have watched her duplicitous actions.
I was extremely disappointed to not have Jordan run for that seat. Another great one in Ohio is Warren Davidson.
She is another fake RINO. She is trying to wrap herself in the language of Trump, but really she is just another politician. One who supported Kasich over Trump and has refused to do anything other than offer praise for our terrible Governor.
I will give weight to your thoughts and reserve judgment for as little as that is worth. Support of Kasich is troubling to me.
It’s hard to defeat the GOP chairperson in any state if they run - they pretty much own the machine or at least the smart ones do. Agree with you about Jordan. One of the few I like on Capital Hill!
In 2016, she supported Kasich. That tells you all you need to know.
She goes whichever way the political winds are blowing.
THIS. Constitutional conservatives here have been fighting her for as long as she's been Chair.
I wouldn't even consider her a weathervane. She's part of the old RINO clique that honest Ohioans been trying to oust for a decade.
