COVID-19 is part of the corona family of common cold viruses.
Corona viruses are the second leading cause of common colds each year.
The reason we do not have vaccines against corona virus common colds is because the viruses mutate every year.
The same thing is happening to COVID-19.
We are going to need COVID-19 booster shots for decades into the future.

That would make this vaccine analysis a second-hand, or third-hand hearsay about vaccine effectiveness,

As I recall, Gates is a school dropout. Where does his biology, immunology expertise come from. What we are getting from him is nothing but his political opinion, not science. Hell, even Fauci who is supposedly an expert in the field has been constantly contradicting himself. So, I sure as hell am not going to listen to someone like Bill Gates on the subject.
