The alligator gar is native to North America and can grow to a length of 2.5m.

Remind me to go swimming in a pool and not in a lake. Geesh...Alligators are not my friends.

Apparently the author didn’t get the memo...

This was NOT an alien fish, it was merely undocumented. And, from the looks of it, probably a dreamer.

Poor Gar, it probably died of pollution.

I grew up in NC and we had them in all the lakes and rivers. I remember the local bait shop had one mounted on the wall. Never heard of them bothering anybody though.

Just looking at pictures of that thing bothers me.

American indians sometimes fashioned the armored scaly skin of alligator gar into quivers for their arrows and used the heavy scales as arrow points.

In life they are actually rather handsome, well-colored fish, albeit with toothy grins.

2.5 meters in North America?

So that would be like 8 feet in England ?

C’mon man

Note that in Singapore they can still call the damned thing an “alien” fish.

That is no longer possible in Biden’s America. A piraña is nothing but an “undocumented” fish.

That’s a gar, not an alligator. It’s a fish, but a very prehistoric lookin’ sucker. Used to catch them in Kemah/Clear Lake area when I was a kid (none that big, of course).

Always threw them back if they made it to shore, usually cut the line as soon as we knew for sure what it was.
