Also his exaggerated “Talent on loan from Gawww-awww-awwd.” He’d always joke that that was how you had to say “God” on air.
These last few months have really sucked two of the larger than life voices we have one completely gone and the other ripped to shreds and muted for months!! I can’t imagine an election season without Rush that is going to be very hard to handle!!!
RUSH ROOMS...
Ditto heads would go to designated rooms in restaurants to listen to Rush during their lunchbreak.
I absolutely loved his TV show and was devastated when it ended. I thought he was perfect for tv and there was so much imagination, fun and verve in those shows. I recorded them on videotape every night and watched them the next morning while exercising.
The time he took my call in 1998 and wished me Merry Christmas. I called about Clinton’s impeachment. I got through once in the late 80s but I can’t remember why I called, but I do remember a friend called and said he had heard me!
I first heard Rush when he was in Sacramento, CA on KFBK. Listened once and was hooked. Also, he described how he quit smoking, cold turkey by listing all the BENEFITS of quittIng. Until then all we heard were the DANGERS. Right then and there I quit after being a smoker for 50 years. Later I listened to him up in Reno, NV.
For those of you in Rio Linda.....
RIP, Rush, you fought the good fight on our behalf, and it was appreciated greatly.
The melting Iceman from his TV show.
During his first years he was talking about things the democrats had on the back burner and were just waiting for the right time to reveal. He brought up reparations which I or nobody else I knew ever heard of before Rush aired it.
It is a sad day without a doubt, but I am also thankful that he was a part of all our lives. I think Rush would have wanted it to be like that.
Many years ago he went on some random monologue about how deeply people loved Ronaldus Magnus and why in response to a callers question about how/why the GOP could not find another Reagan. He pointed out all the great qualities of Reagan that were so rare and even how the uniqueness and rarity of Reagan was part of what made him so special.
I thought about how so many of us would feel the same when he passed. If the measure of a life was in how many people you touch or shared a word with or how much you are loved there are very few people in history who lived a richer life.
Thanks for the thread. It is now near 100, and I think I identified with every one of the posts. I am a since-forever listener, and today has been devastating.
The revvvvvverend jacksin-eh.
I loved the way he would vigorously shake a piece of paper with a story printed on it right next to the microphone. He’d go at it so hard you just KNEW the paper was going to be torn to bits, but it never did. Then he’d always say he was holding it in “my formerly nicotine-stained fingers.”

I’m going to miss hearing Rush Limbaugh live on the radio. :(
I’m sure that he is returning the ”talent on loan from God” and getting a cordial welcome from Him.
I remember my dad listening to Rush on his small desktop radio in his den every day. As dad’s Parkinson’s got progressively worse, dad was losing muscle control and had a hard time sitting up straight. But he always listened to Rush kind of hunched over his desk with his red cardigan sweater on and smiling as Rush told his stories. It’s a nice memory of Dad listening to Rush.
I sure do miss “America’s anchorman doing show prep for the rest of the media.”
The condom update. This was 89 or 90. I was in the 4th grade. Grandma picked me up from school and had Rush on the radio. First time I ever heard him. He started to give the condom update and played this song: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HfxqQmWtGNM
I immediately asked Grandma what it was all about and she just as quickly turned off the radio and told me to forget about it. I was hooked.
