Texas energy nightmare

Posted on 02/17/2021 5:31:53 AM PST by uscga77

Nobody listens especially politicians until the lights (and heat!) go out. Texas voters will remember how our state officials 'managed' this energy crisis and set us up for failure with a foolish reliance on wind and solar that is not advanced enough to keep us warm. For some rolling blackouts are a big misnomer that have people freezing for many hours if not days. Pray and be good neighbors, especially to the elderly and those with little children.

That’s how I see it too. You can bet they will be dropping off the millions who will soon be pouring over the southern border in strategically selected districts.

I heard but can’t prove, some gas pipelines shut down because electrical blackouts shut down the compressors. You can power gas pipeline compressors with gas turbines running on what is in the pipeline, but this has been prohibited by environmental protection ( anti-CO2 ) zealot law, making natural gas power ( the dispatchable backup ) depend on wind and solar when the chips are down.

Thus the proponents of unreliable power sources can say gas is unreliable too.

The infrastructure wasn't winterized because no one wanted to pay for it which was of course idiotic. I lived in Texas in the past (North) and its does get cold/ice storms a good amount especially in the panhandle where power could go out for awhile (Mainly frozen branches breaking off and disrupting power lines).

Those favored sons and daughters in charge thought Statewide freezes covering South Texas was not worth worrying about. They are wishing they had a V-8 now.

“foolish reliance on wind and solar”

More nukes, less kooks.

Putting windmills on the electrical grid wasn’t the smartest move.

Yep, between forced demographic changes, academic indoctrination, and vote fraud, the Dems may be able to tip Texas within five years (or less).

They started out on the goal of flipping Texas 20 years ago, and they now are within sight of accomplishing their mission. They know when Texas flips, they become the permanent majority.

Putting windmills that can't handle winter weather wasn't the smartest moves. Countries with a lot worse winter weather create a larger percentage of their electricity from wind than Texas does and they don't seem to have a problem

Austin was lied to about rolling outages. Austin Electric has declared as non-essential the homes of thousands of families who are on their 3rd day of sub freezing temps with no electricity. Electric executives and politicians need to be called to account. Neither the calling nor accounting should be pleasant. Abbott has waded into deep dodo.

25% is wind and isn’t wind #2 source in thr state?

Assuming it is then wouldn't it make sense to plan for the worst case scenario and install wind systems that actually work in winter?

YEP! Texas is responsible, but don’t forget to follow the money/regulation trail from the federal gov’t. The DC clowns deserve at least an equal level of blame.
