With the store policies now they just walk out with it. My daughter works at a store and was watching a shady character and called for backup.
He walked out of the store with a cart loaded with stuff. She caught up to him and asked to see a receipt.
“Oh - I threw it away as soon as I left the store.”
“Oh, that’s okay sir. I can check it on the register if you’ll come back with me.”
By that time the burly guy at her store had shown up behind the customer. The customer rolled the cart at my daughter and hopped in his car and took off.
She said the store rules say if they make it out of the store to not confront anybody. But she didn’t get in trouble for stopping him.
I’m just hoping that most shop-lifters aren’t violent. Hence why they are shop lifting and not just mugging folks out on the street.
