I was as outraged as any member of Congress. But senators take our own oaths. Our job wasn’t to find some way, any way, to inflict a punishment. The Senate’s first and foundational duty was to protect the Constitution.

Mitch - you are an ass. How did you protect the Constitution by doing something that isn't in the Constitution. There is no provision for what you let happen.

You deserved to lose your job as Majority leader.

How can someone be very good at Judges be so horrible in everything else?

The jury is still out as to whether or not the hundreds of Federal judges approved during Mitch’s regime will be GOOD.

A few years ago while I still believed that the GOP was a separate and distinct party, I once lauded McConnell for something. I forget what it was, but it was during the Bush presidency. And my interlocutor, joe6-pack, said something in response that has stayed with me all these years. “He gets up once in a while when his ox is gored.” That’s eminently true.

I have no use whatsoever for Mitch McConnell. I don’t even feel scorn for or disgust with McConnell or any other Republican because it is finally clear to me that they are 2 wings of the same party. Therefore, I am indifferent. Thank you, joe6-pack, for your spot-on commentary.
