Are you telling me that Cuban citizens are still having to escape from Cuba using makeshift, non-sea worthy boats?
That sounds exactly like what i saw some 40 years ago while I was in the Navy.
Now I remember. It was called the Mariel Boatlift in 1980.
How sad and how incredible that nothing has really changed down there.
That said, much of this poverty and desperation is self induced, by leadership that fully embraces communism.
Thishas never changed either.
I am a native of Miami and lived through The Mariel Boatlift. Difference is that Castro emptied out all of his prisons and sent them to Miami on the Mariel Boatlift. Crime skyrocketed. There were tents under overpasses everywhere. First reports of AIDS began to appear. A total mess and Castro was laughing his A$$ off.
