People: this is long overdue. The national anthem was put in there by congress in the 30’s. It’s purpose was to take our mind off the depression. It’s was and is a distraction. Now the BLM people are calling us on it. Government should stay out of the private sector. Remember that patriotism is the last bastion of the scoundrel.
Government out of private sectors means NO funding for stadiums or to woo teams and events.
Refuting patriotism is for scum who would benefit by it but not willing to pay or even acknowledge it, preferring to flip this best nation on earth the bird.
“Government should stay out of the private sector.”
Government ‘stayed out of the private sector’ and with that, Facebook, Google, Twitter, and others manufactured a DEMOCRAT WIN.
I’m sick of this Libertarian shit, and if that bothers you, tough. If you can’t stand for 3 minutes to respect the United States, it’s history, and the millions who died for us, go live in Somalia.
May I suggest you read up on American history? The words to the National Anthem were written in 1812 during the attack on Fort Henry by the British. The song was published that same year. Subsequently it gained in popularity, particularly after the Civil War.
"By the 1890s, the U.S military had adopted the song for ceremonial purposes, playing it to accompany the raising and lowering of the colors. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson signed an executive order designating it “the national anthem of the United States.”
Congress did pass a law confirming President Wilson's Executive Order in the 1930s but so what. By that time the song was our national anthem. It had been played at important ceremonies as it is today for 40 years at that point.
