Are you talking about the AX.25 based network?

If so, about as fast as AOL....on a bad day. That said, it is a very resilient network protocol.

After the World Series earthquake, a similar network was handling 1000’s messages/day

Yes, It is slow at 1200 baud. But it is not meant to transmit the book War and Peace. We have a Sunday Night Packet where stations in Calif and Nevada check in to roll call. Typically we have from 10 to 15 stations checking in. Lots of fun and interesting to see which nodes each can hear directly.
