The question I have about this situation is: How can McCarthy prove he didn’t say something, if there was supposedly only two people who witnessed the conversation in the first place and there is no sanction for lying? The only way possible for the Trump lawyers to combat it would be to call a Trump staff person who was with him for the day. However, that would mean they will have one of Trump’s staff under oath to answer whatever questions the House managers desire. Is Leahy going to sustain an objection? Is it even possible for the Trump lawyers to object given this is a political trial.

We now see the full scale of the revenge motive behind this Unimpeachment Trial.

That’s the point where the defense needs to put Pelosi and McConnell (or their security staff) under oath. Capital security is their primary responsibility.
