New details about Trump-McCarthy shouting match show Trump refused to call off the rioters

Washington (CNN)

In an expletive-laced phone call with House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy while the Capitol was under attack, then-President Donald Trump said the rioters cared more about the election results than McCarthy did.

"Well, Kevin, I guess these people are more upset about the election than you are," Trump said, according to lawmakers who were briefed on the call afterward by McCarthy.

McCarthy insisted that the rioters were Trump's supporters and begged Trump to call them off.

Trump's comment set off what Republican lawmakers familiar with the call described as a shouting match between the two men. A furious McCarthy told the then-President the rioters were breaking into his office through the windows, and asked Trump, "Who the f--k do you think you are talking to?" according to a Republican lawmaker familiar with the call.

This is almost like a “when did you stop beating your wife?” fallacy. The “riot” or supposed “insurrection” was not Trump’s to “call off.”

Wouldn’t a call by President Trump to the rioters to back off be portrayed by the media that Trump actually did have control over the rioters and was,in fact, responsible for their actions?

That's when, according to McCarthy, the president said: "Well, Kevin, I guess these people
are more upset about the election than you are, and I'm gonna drink a six pack and smoke
this excellent doobie that Nanci Pelosi just gave me."

This is the unabridged statement that Kevin gave to his good friend, Herrera Beutler.

Honest. I wouldn't lie.

If Trump said that I don’t have a problem with it.

“He said that dereliction of duty is part of the incitement charge.”

As usual, he is wrong. Dereliction of Duty would have to be part of a separate impeachment article. Incitement is incitement and not dereliction of duty.

One thing the Dems have showcased, in addition to their stupidity and total lack of ethics and character is their utter lack of knowledge of our Constitution, what it says and what it stands for.

The UniParty started that Capitol Hill “insurrection” after it became obvious to the rest of the country they had pulled off a coup on behalf of their CCP masters.

The beauty of it all at this point is that the Capitol Hill “false flag” appears to be a MAJOR Achilles heel they’re all desperately afraid of.

Its why BOTH Pelosi and Mitch went ballistic after failing to drape it around DJT’e neck yesterday.

The biggest irony about the whole Jan. 6th event is that Trump probably prevented a more serious incursion into the Capitol . His words, which included the exhortation to do things peacefully, added the necessary restraint for his [true] supporters. I wonder how many there that day were thinking, “this is it, baby. Today we send those lying, cheating Dems packing,” but because of seeing and hearing their President (whom they love more than they hate the Dems) were reminded that they are on the side of right, and the side of right does not behave itself like the side of hate.

After the not guilty verdict yesterday, President Trump should have been awarded the Medal of Freedom.

This opening sentence (of course) makes it sound like it was Trump uttering expletives; instead it was McCarthy.

CNN sucks.

As usual, he is wrong. Dereliction of Duty would have to be part of a separate impeachment article. Incitement is incitement and not dereliction of duty.

NATIONAL REVIEW, not a big Trump supporter, pointed out in yesterday's editorial that dereliction of duty was not in the impeachment charges...NATIONAL REVIEW asserted that House Democrats were in a big hurry to impeach Mr. Trump and they did not do a good job of figuring out charges...

The editorial stated that it was very hard for impeachment managers to prove that Mr. Trump wanted the Capitol riot to happen...That, according to NATIONAL REVIEW, was the problem with "incitement" charge...

So what’s your point? Nothing you said disputes anything I said.
