100 years ago the average life expectancy was 50, so people weren’t willing to put up with any crap, because they knew they probably weren’t gonna live that long anyway.
I never thought about how living longer and more comfortably makes people value safety and comfort over freedom and principles, until 2020. It’s enough to make me tell people I DON’T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT YER GRANDMA!
