I did not see this movie until I was in university about some ten years later. And I remember someone I knew at the time shrugged and said that he thought the book far better than the movie.

I saw it as a child, bad idea.
Those twins gave me nightmares.
Jaws was worse though.

The book is much better than the movie. The movie really didn't convey what the "The Shining" was.

It was, but they usually are. The movie does not really follow the book that closely.

Back in college I read the book. Snowed in. A small lodge in Colorado. About 20 miles from that huge lodge in Estes Park that is the model for the movie.

The book is far better than the movie. It’s both creepier and had a better message.
