VALPARAISO, Ind. -- Valparaiso University announced Thursday that it is dropping the team name Crusaders, the school mascot and all logos associated with the term that it said has been embraced by hate groups.

The decision comes after a decadeslong debate that had intensified recently because groups such as the Ku Klux Klan began using the symbols and words. The school's faculty and student senates each passed resolutions calling for the change and the university's alumni board of directors supported reassessing the appropriateness of the team name.

The Crusades were a series of bloody religious wars starting in the 11th century between Christians and Muslims. For years, Valpo's mascot has been a helmeted figure in faux armor.

Valparaiso Victims?

I'm sure that nickname is ok with the woke people.

The entire student body should apologize for being white and Christian.

The truth about the Crusades notwithstanding of course. . . The truth? Constant harassment from Muslim incursions into Europe forced exactly two responses. Compare that to the hundreds of attacks over a millennia?

European culture is being wiped from the face of the Earth.

If you have never seen this video, it puts the crusades into perspective in a very effective way:

This college has 400 full time students at $60,000 a year. Many of these small colleges are closing. You can actually buy them for $5-10 million. Not bad for all the buildings and land. They are usually in rural areas where kids don’t want to go anymore.

Business ideas are nursing home, assisted living, tech schools, conservative colleges, resort get away, camps, reunions, business retreats, church retreats, or just a really nice compound for like minded family and friends.

The Crusades always get a bad rap. Sure, there were excesses and abuses, how many thousands of souls were saved, hospitals built, pilgrimages enabled. In fact, the leading historian on the Crusades has written one essay entitled “Crusading As an Act of Love.” Yes, seriously. The trouble is, most people know absolutely nothing about the Crusades other than what they are told by Hollywood and the Liberal land of solipsistic idiots.

The Sh*tbirds would be a good name. Shouldn’t “offend” anyone but the honky Snowflake “college students”.

The Crusaders was a great American jazz band back in the day.
