Apparently, tankers have been used before. Possibly the type of tanker is what's causing the massive lack of air to the occupants.

That photo looks to be a bulk material trailer (sometimes called air cans).

Since the material is blown in, lots of dust easily stirred into the air to be sucked into your lungs.
