Do u think it’s played BEFORE EVERY sporting event because it’s so popular?

I'd respect Cuban more if he would've been public from day one, i.e. at the start of the season. Instead, he stays silent until today, after 13 home games.
Perhaps he thought he needed to change the narrative, as the Mavericks are near the bottom of the standings.

I think it’s played because that is a tradition and been a tradition for all of our lifetimes. I can’t imagine that there could be a law that would require such a thing. That said, there used to be a time when the vast majority of Americans were proud of their nation and were happy to stand for the anthem, even sing along.

It is played because the leagues to some extent or another require that the national anthem(s) be played prior to a game.
There should be no law that requires it, but in stadiums and arenas that are publicly owned and leased, the controlling authority could require it in the lease.

Do u think it’s played BEFORE EVERY sporting event because it’s so popular? FIRST: Faulty premise! Have never heard it played before golf tournaments or chess tournaments.
SECOND: Because it's popular? No! Rather, but when it's played, it's because it's tradition.
Regards,
