Nowadays with people mostly using the Internet instead of a paper dictionary, the formal definition of a word can be changed instantly. It has happened in the past few years.

The Ministry of Truth has great power. It is far easier to change words when they are on the Internet than it was back when Winston had to sit at a desk to change what was written in paper books in 1984

Some words are so clear that we don't have to worry. Words like "impeachment", "male", "female", and "marriage" have meanings that go back hundreds or thousands of years. What hope do the thugs who hate us have of redefining such basic terms?
