Bravo Sierra. The VAST majority of these violators (it is, after all, illegal most places) will be offered, and successfully complete, deferred adjudication or deferred disposition and have the charge dismissed. It doesn’t affect those people at all in the way this person asserts above.

Okay, then how much are we taxpayers forking out for all this police and court time if no one is actually being punished? Is this just a make-work program for the justice system?

No, I think it’s a way to keep from having to house and feed people who don’t really need “three hots and a cot”, but that cooled just be my acquired cynicism...
