We have hundreds of great little family owned pizzarias here, but now and then I hanker for home made, which is usually a fresh French bread sliced horizontally, add some Rao's pizza sauce, some bere bere (Ethiopian spice) to give it a little heat, some cheese, grated garlic, pepperonis, red onions, any leftover sausage or meatballs from the night before and/or bacon, and yank a couple of leaves of basil off the window sill plants.
Oven at 400 F for 10-15 minutes and add the chopped basil once you pull it out. Crust gets nice and crispy, pair with some Marrano Vignalta (eyetalian cab) and proceed to burn roof of mouth.
