Free speech social media platform Gab received 272 million visits during the month of January, outperforming legacy media competition such as NBC News, The Wall Street Journal, Breitbart, and TMZ by a wide margin.
Gab’s success is particularly remarkable, considering the fact that the website has been “deplatformed” from mobile app stores, PayPal, and email marketing services.
The official Gab Twitter account revealed that the website had far outperformed legacy media on Monday, posting “Gab: ~272 million in Jan” next to a screenshot of traffic numbers from various corporate legacy media outlets.
A total of 272 million visits would put Gab ahead of the New York Post (257 million), the Huffington Post (205 million), the Wall Streeet Journal (165 million), Breitbart (160 million), and The Daily Beast (109 million), among others.

Parler will experience the same thing (if it ever comes back).
Gab has been extremely slow today—probably because so many people are opening accounts there.
This is how the conservative majority strikes back. Great to see it happening.
Folks who remain on FB and Twitter need to stop making excuses, shut down their accounts, and starve the beast. If someone is concerned about all of the photos and such, FB has the ability to download a profile’s content prior to shutting off the account, including photos/videos, posts, friends, etc.
Folks need to stop complaining about FB and Twitter every time they twist the screws on another conservative. If someone is going to complain without taking action then it’s just whining. Gab’s great, make the move. Telegram too.
It ain’t alt if it’s at that level.
Gab: “Nobody goes there anymore, it’s too crowded.”
Ironic that you’re whining about how you perceive others are whining.
The problem is Big Tech has a monopoly on hosting and bandwidth.
They should ask Jim for advice on how to keep an independent site online and hosted without the enemy causing problems.
it's horribly slow EVERY DAY. When it takes 30+ seconds to respond to a mouse click, that's a horrible user experience.
I have Gig Internet. Gab apparently has a 56k dialup modem.
Gab seems to running much, much smoother and quicker after they absorbed the massive influx of new users.
Don’t call it “alt-tech” or they might ban it.
That’s good to hear FreeBird.
Steve: They’re already banned everywhere!
I read that Gab has a very small staff, and they may have just been overwhelmed by the massive influx of new users generated by the crushing of Parler and the purges at Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, Reddit, and the rest. But Gab has a lot of features that I like and I hope they can grow and compete with the big boys.
“It ain’t alt if it’s at that level.”
Correct, and it’s not good for conservative outlets to be designated ‘alternate’ to distinguish from the mainstream.
Just like gays hijacked the rainbow, the mainstream has hijacked ‘alternate’.
I was wondering the same thing about Parler myself. Does anyone have any kind of an update?
Something to be said for free speech.
They fired the CEO @john apparently. So I have no idea what’s going on ...
The next minute, hitting the Home icon resulted in a 25+ second delay until Gab displayed the home page.
Sorry, it needs to be consistently quicker to be usable, IMO.
At one point there was a rumor making the rounds here on the interwebs that Parler was being rebuilt on servers located in Russia. If that's true (I've no way of validating/invalidating it) there's no way I'd use Parler again.
Isitdownrightnow.com says Gab is now up, but it was down 27 minutes ago.
