“What do you mean by ‘auto sleep’? It won’t turn off the screen after so many minutes of non-use, or it won’t turn off when you close the lid?”
It is an all in one desktop . Before the Windows update after 25 minutes the computer would go into sleep mode . The screen will turn off after 10 minutes of non-use now but the computer won’t . Set for 25 minutes .
I once had a girlfriend who wouldn’t sleep. It was fun for a while but eventually I had to rest up and get back to work.
This occurs on my notebook intermittently. Most times it’s because I left a browser on a site that’s continually showing/changing ads.
What program? I'd love to do that but haven't the time to experiment.
Good article... Thanks
Just my opinion, but I occasionally call support for Dell, HP and Lenovo for my job. Lenovo support takes forever. We only buy Dell and HP now. One reason is support.
I’ve heard some porn sites will cause that...
I sympathize with you

Life is hard enough without software trouble
I’m so tired of fixing things from that update. I’m not a tech wizard and just confounded by all the alerts and messages I’m getting. Made my son a pot of chili, he’s coming on Tuesday to try and calm things down!
Check Settings and search for “Control Panel”
then when Control Panel window opens select
“Hardware and Sound”
Look for the shield symbol and “Device Manager”
Open Device Manager and select “Display adapters”
Right click on your adapter (Intel, AMD Radeon, ...)
Click menu item “Update driver”
Solved the sleep issue for me after the Win 10 update several weeks ago.
I have been using Audials One for several years... it is actually a German company. They provide frequent updates to keep things running smoothly, and every year they add a couple of handy new features. They allow you to use it on up to three computers and it also comes with an Android App that you can use on multiple devices that I have never used. I use it on two mini-computers that I have hooked to our HD-TVs and also use it on my laptop.
The website that they sell it on is more than a little confusing. They have a “Gold Subscription” or you can just buy the program for the same price and they give you all their updates for a year. They supposedly charge $79 but the program is always on sale for $59.90. If you download the trial version they email offers for $29. Every year they release a new version with some usually worthwhile upgrades. I typically find their yearly upgrades to be worth the $29 because of the added features and the frequent updates. The recordings are incredibly good. And if it is a movie or TV series, the program finds and saves the info from the IMBD database about it and then organizes your recordings into a searchable format.
They sell it on Amazon for $59.90 as well, when I checked just now there are a couple of people who have trashed the latest version complaining about problems that I have never had, the forum, and customer support. But do not buy it from Amazon. Just download the free trial and see if it works for you... I do not know about now, but there used to be no restrictions on the trial... it had a nag message and just stopped working after a couple of weeks.

Its so new its not sleepy - give it an intensive workout to dissipate some of its energy, then it will sleep.
Select the windows flag;
select Settings;
select Power and sleep;
Adjust the setting to interval you want your display and PC to go to sleep;
Close out.
If you are still having problems, do a further thorough specific search.
Thanks so much! I’ll take it for a spin.
My 6 year old HP laptop died about 3 weeks ago. I decided I didn’t want to put anymore money into it.
Also I had about all of Microsoft and windows I could stand.
For some time I had contemplated a MacBook Air, the only thing that put me off was the price.
Finally after the laptop died I thought the Hell with it I am going to Apple. Could not be happier. So much easier to deal with and works great. I am able to hook up extra storage very easily, was able to access all my files from the old laptop from the external hard drives I have, so I lost nothing.
I find Safari a much better browser than IE, etc. .
In that forum blog, I am curious why no comments are wondering if some app/process/task is REFUSING to shut down/sleep, and why no suggestions of getting a snap shot of task-manager screens at critical points is ignored. I am guessing the update changed some condition for some app/process/task that is refusing to give up control no matter what the sleep/hibernate settings are.
Just a couple of thoughts from an old IT guy.
Since you appear to be unable to resolve the sleep issue, consider this:
I’ve always recommended not relying on the “Sleep” (technically, “Hibernating”) mode for laptops and PCs. And, I actually disable the service and regaining some hard drive space (it can be upwards to several gigabytes).
Most importantly, it a very good practice to save all open documents, close all programs and then shutdown the computer. With todays computers that have highspeed SSD and memory, most computers will boot very quickly, so the boot time is as much of a factor as it used to be. Also, shutting down the computer is an important part of data security. While not impossible, it is very difficult to hack a computer that is turned off (there are ways, but that is a whole different subject).
Also, depending on your logon requirements, leaving documents open, programs open, etc., opens you up to all sorts of security issues, like a passerby being able to see recent documents (that’s why don’t use Excel for password files - it’s easy to find in Excel’s “Recent Documents” list), or viewing “private” or “confidential” data. Not to mention being able to view your browsing history as well.
Hope this helps.
