Judge Buescher sentenced Fitch to 30 months’ imprisonment. There is no parole in the federal system. Once Fitch is released from prison, he will begin a three-year term of supervised release.

I wonder what is the difference is.

The difference is that, in the federal system, once you are sentenced to 30 months of imprisonment, you will actually have to serve the full 30 months of imprisonment. No "time off for good behavior."

THEN, after having served the full time, the perp is released, but must still submit to a period of supervision "on the outside."

Verstanden?

It's all there in the article!

Regards,

He’s now a convicted felon and it can limit him in voting, possessing/owning a gun, working certain types of jobs, and associating with known criminals (i.e. Antifa, Black Bloc, BLM, etc).
