I was a kid growing up in NYC back then. Goetz was alone on that car. Back then, if someone slashed a helpless person’s face in front of a bunch of people, someone would have stepped up. Those thugs never would have messed with Goetz in view of someone they perceived as able to help.
Maybe there’s still a small enclave of good Samaritans like that out in Staten Island, but the rest of those people got smart and moved on to greener pastures. The city was always unforgiving in a lot of ways, but the city of today is soulless and cold, filled with ignorant, arrogant, and cowardly people who are equally soulless. That is why it won’t ever recover from the lockdowns no matter how much Biden helicopter money they burn.
Are the guardian angels still a thing?

I always thought Goetz was right and never should’ve been incarcerated.
