According to the article, nearby neighbors are happy. Venice is ground zero for LA vagrant encampments and they have magically disappeared.
I have heard that Venice Beach has become full of homeless drug addicts. Not a place you want to walk around with flip flops because you might end up with a used needle in your piggies. Basically a SH#THOLE.
