Not too much of a stretch. Muslims are the potential terrorists the no one talks about and trying to cross illegally raises red flags on their reason or intent.

Also Venezuela has allowed many Iranians to set up “shop” in their country, military or otherwise. Being in Venezuela is an easier route for Iranian terrorists or Iranian military personnel to cross over into our country illegally.
