The “courts” and “justice system” in this country have been useless for a long time. Their current incarnation should be destroyed, and a system put in place to fairly resolve disputes between people.

Agreed. Courts are in many or maybe most cases, rotten. Slap on wrists for egregious crimes, and hard time for nothing.
