Why Democrats Will Never Stop Talking About ‘Insurrection’
The Federalist ^ | 3 Feb, 2021 | Jonathan S. Tobin

The second impeachment trial of Donald Trump will begin next week. But there’s more at stake in the proceedings than Trump’s legacy.

The overwhelming majority of Republicans are determined to resist impeachment regardless of their personal feelings about Trump. Perhaps some still think a conviction would be worth it if it would definitively end his political career. But even they may understand that it would be political malpractice and a breach of faith with their voters to join with the Democrats seeking Trump’s scalp.

But Trump’s future is not what is really at stake in the debate about the events of Jan. 6. As disgraceful and criminal as the behavior of the mob was that day and as troubling as Trump’s mistakes were, the point of impeachment isn’t about punishing him or even whether it would be legally possible for him to run again for president in 2024. It is the future of the entire Republican Party that is currently up for grabs.

As their choice of language, the broad scope of their accusations, and the measures beyond impeachment that they are considering as a response indicate, Democrats have more ambitious goals than further shaming or disqualifying Trump from a future presidential run. The rhetorical inflation of a dangerous riot by a mob to a full-blown “insurrection” is more than political hyperbole.

Snip

What Trump’s opponents have done is to launch a campaign that seeks to treat the “insurrection” as not just the fitting culmination of the Trump administration but the prism through which to view the Republican Party as disloyal, authoritarian, and violent. By this means, all those members of the House and the Senate who voted to challenge the Electoral College results can be labeled as accessories to insurrection

The communist/democrats will not stop the use of the term until it no longer registers favorably with their focus groups (virtual and quadruple-masked focus groups, y’know!)

It does two things:

1 - the dog and pony show takes the public’s attention away from feeble China Joe and his economic devastation of America.

2 - they can use a broad brush to paint all 79 million Trump supporters as insurrectionists. Any time you can throw mud at conservatives, you do it.

Sorry, calling what happened on January 6 "a dangerous riot by a mob" is rhetorical inflation AND more than political hyperbole.

I am beginning to think that The Federalist plays for the other team.

Projection - Blaming others of doing what you are doing to cover your guilt.

And YET - it’s the exact same thing (contest the election - calls for #resistance, protests and riots) the Democrats and the DNC did for the last 4 YEARS.

Not even including the ACTUAL INSURRECTION that occurred all summer!

The GOP is playing defense on this and letting the DNC set the narrative - AS USUAL and getting overrun.

They must stand up to this oppression

I read the WP article about disarming 76% of the American population today. Disarm Whites. Who the hell is this 24% who want whites on their knees?

" . . . the prism through which to view the Republican Party as disloyal, authoritarian, and violent."

Of course, this is gaslighting on a mass scale. The Democrats are the party of demonizing America as "structurally racist," of tearing down monuments and renaming schools, of shaming us for our history, of authoritarianism, and of endless riots, takeovers, and sit-ins intended to thwart "business as usual."

And let us not forget that it is the left against which cities were bracing themselves prior to the election because it was the left who was promising violence - "to shut down the country" - if Trump won.

At some point they’ll have to realize that if they keep blaming us for it...we’ll reach the point that we’ll then darn well deserve it.

Insurrection projection.

LONG ago, I stated that the ACTUAL riots were INSURRECTION.

They are starting with a false premise, that must be addressed FIRST.

‘The rhetorical inflation of a dangerous riot by a mob to a full-blown “insurrection” is more than political hyperbole.’

Indeed.

Hilarious how commie Dems always project.

As far as “dangerous”, I guess any mob is dangerous, technically. But unlike endless large-scale and scope riots over the whole year and country, no one burned a US flag - rather carried them - or pulled down the many statues in the Capitol.

Also, pray tell....how did the Capitol “riot” end? ZERO stories of how that came to be within the space of a few hours.

The Left can’t handle rejection. they can’t help but personalize it.

An “insurrection” in their little minds is a few people kicking back.

The idea that 100 million Americans think they’re nutz in incomprehensible to the Left

Hmmmm . . .disloyal, authoritarian and violent . . . that goes a long way toward describing the commie rats . . . but it leaves out a few like dishonest, deceitful, vengeful, manipulative, conniving, amoral, vile, anti-American . . . just to name a few.

“I read the WP article about disarming 76% of the American population today. Disarm Whites.”

That was `Rev’ Sharon Risher who lost relatives in the S.C. church shooting, speaking before the gun control mob on Capitol Hill. I.e., whites commit all gun crimes.

She calls it `disarm hate’ but what she really means is

“Too many whities got too many guns!! Disarm the violent majority!!”

OK, bring it. You and Auntie She-Jackalee have a job on your hands
