You have that right. States that were admitted to the U.S. after the Civil War got screwed on public lands because the national politicians of the time wanted more federal control.

Time to take a good, hard look at land ownership by the feds in the Western States. We should pass a Constitutional Amendment or something to outlaw excessive federal ownership.
