My how times have changed in our households. Modern appliances and other inventions have afforded us conveniences that our predecessors didn’t have. Don’t you sometimes wonder what things were like a century or two ago?
Explore the past by looking at these vintage wares and try to figure out what they were used for. Some of these objects were more common during certain historical periods, or in particular parts of the world. Though they all share the same status of being antiques, you may find one or two of these items still in use.

I have a few furniture items I’ve picked up from a couple of good nearby antique shops. You’re right. They have character and are built to last. My father had a Sears Coldspot chest freezer that ran continuously for 50 years without problems. I finally got him to unplug it when he really wasn’t using it anymore. When he passed and I had an auction, I was surprised to find that someone enthusiastically bought it.
With the way most things are made today, pretty to be used short-term and then thrown away, I wonder how many of our contemporary things will still be around years from now.

Wow you have an inductive timing light! Mine is the type you pull the plug wire off and hook it inline.
Don’t forget the time that the more extension cords one had in the house meant they were poor.
Recently, the more extension cords mean the more ‘gadgets’ you own so that - in a sense - makes you more affluent....
It will be all the older stuff that survives. The modern stuff is complete junk.

Drooling over the range. We just closed up my parents’ house. My dad has his great grandfather’s scales from the hardware store he owned. They work great. My dad uses them when he makes bread.
