“points were too difficult to figure out.”
Say what?!
Unreal..
Kids are so dumb these days its lucky they know how to feed their faces.
I went to marine diesel engineering school. Didnt do real well, but didnt do bad either. But I will grant you this. these kids have no idea what a REAL diesel/gas engine is. Out on the water, you cant go to a parts store for parts. Out there, you had to MAKE your own parts. So, the courses included naval welding certification, advanced machining engineering, as well as the usual diesel knowledge. If a rod cracked or broke on one of those diesels, you had to weld it up to get back to port. And it had to be done correctly.
If they can make a carburetor,,,they can learn to code!
Yyyeeaaahhhh....
I’m thinkin’ THAT’S never gonna happen or the South will secede, again.
All-electric NASCAR... Don’t even say those words out loud south of interstate 40.
Immic, they bought Holley, their line of TBI fuel injection systems got even cooler, aka a 1 barrel version for 4's & 6's 75 to 180hp, the main target old Mustangs & Falcons, any hole's straight 6 for that matter.
I put an Edelbrock on my 1958 Impala after getting tired of fighting with the tri-power setup. Starts and runs great. I also put in the suggested amount of Sta-Bil every time I fill up.
I had no idea...Scientology connection to San Jacinto...I have visited Soboba Casino...I was not too impressed...
One thing I learned as a kid, to adjust the points all you need is a matchbook cover. Someone I knew who worked for International Paper showed me that trick, they’re exactly .017 thousandths of an inch thick.

My concern is staying with original parts to keep the value of an antique up there. This car had original wheel covers, upholstery, paint and trim.
The electronic conversion kits for antiques are essentially a magnetic kit within the distributor similar to what was OEM in the 70’s before each car had its own computer and gobs of sensors that determined the best timing. All this kit does is make it a pointless ignition, nothing else.
I now wish I’d have bought the car, probably could have eventually found an original distributor. The guy just ticked me off.
Another success in the Moonbeam, Goobernator, Moonbeam and Noisome war on California industry and workers.
Time to fire up the “jobs lost” list that we had under Obozo.
“jobs lost under pedo joe and the ho”
All performance parts will need to be sold on a black market by the time Biden departs..
In a few years, Formula One will be all electric, like Formula Three is right now.
I know how to replace, adjust, file points, but the distibuter is at the back of my 58 Impala. I remember having to fuss with the points on my other 58 and decided to put one of those little electronic gadgets in place of points on this one. No worries about the points wearing down or burning out if closed while the ignition on. If the 65 Ford distributor is in front, then no big deal.
They can hang out with the laid off pipeline workers when they learn to code, or make solar panels/extreme sarc

Extremely good post. You nailed it.
I went to a car show once at the Edelbrock office. It was huge. The part I appreciated, bc I am not a car buff, was a competition they had where community college students had to do something major with car parts while the clock was running. No clue what they were doing, but I appreciated the effort, precision and teamwork on display. Young people like that deserve more credit than they often get.
Better than learning to code, learn to remove ethanol from gasoline.
To an MT 5 gallon gas can add 64 ounces of distilled water. Go to gas station and fill with 91 octane gas.
Go home and pour into a clear separator and let stand till the gasoline separates from the water/ethanol mix.
Drain the water/alcohol mix from the bottom, leaving you with 89 octane gas.
Cheaper to do same work elsewhere

California voters don’t seem to care if major employers leave the state and leave residents to pay for the growing unemployment problem. One thing is for certain: Californians will keep voting for more self-destruction.
The mind of a liberal is a very strange thing indeed.
This move has been in the works for 2 years.
A investment firm bought both Comp Cams and Edelbrock
No Bet. I knew Vic Edelbrock. Lots of VERY talented people in the So Calif racing businesses.
This is a punch in the gut.
