Saw one once back in the mid 60’s, it come into our fire camp at CHILAO in the Angeles National Forest.
Probably came in looking for food so we locked it in the Camp Supervisors office and called Animal Control.
By the time they got there and caught the critter it looked like Dick O’Connors office had been put through a shredder, 3 or 4 times. :)
Probably somebodies illegal pet that escaped.
