To get electrolytes I drink Brawndo because it has what plants crave.
About 5 or 6 years ago, I ended up in the hospital with low sodium, low potassium, and low magnesium. They never figured out how it happened. I had been taking a prescribed potassium supplement for over 20 years at the time, along with Hydrochlorothiazide for my blood pressure. I was in the hospital for 3 days, and one of the nurses who had worked my floor for one of those days, stopped by to see how I was doing. I told him that they took me off the potassium. He said that it was probably a good thing, because too much potassium is just as bad as not enough. My family doctor/endocrinologist sends me for blood work every six months, and all my levels have consistently been within normal range.
I sprinkle lawn fertilizer on my oatmeal. 18-24-6 gives me sufficient potassium, and a lot of phosphate.
