You would probably enjoy the original Godzilla movie—the one that they cut up to make the Raymond Burr version.
The movie is an analogy for WWII and the dropping of the bomb on Japan.
They debate whether it is morally right to use the ultimate weapon (a bomb that removes oxygen from the ocean, and thus devastates it) to eliminate an external threat (Godzilla).

I have not seen
Godzilla for some time, and it was the Raymond Burr Americanized version. The first movie was certainly original, and deserves a lot more credit IMO than all the remakes. I was always amused how they kept doing Godzilla sequels until he eventually became a folk hero.
I also liked Gorgo. The story was a lot like Kong, as they find a giant creature and bring it back to exhibit it. But the twist that the monster is just a toddler and its much more gigantic mother comes to take it home was hilarious.

It is so comforting to know that a movie with such terrific redeeming social value is about to be released.

Only a little orphaned girl can connect with Kong in the battle to save the world.
