I wouldn’t enjoy a celebration day for Curt Schilling, whose support for the January 6 insurrection attempt at the Capitol building marked his latest display of hellbound behavior. None of those, it should be stressed, which also include calling for the murder of journalists or mocking trans people, qualify as “conservative.” They’re just hateful.
Yet can the Plaque Gallery, which already houses all sorts of bigots, miscreants and rogues — long ago rendering the ballot’s “integrity, sportsmanship, character” wording irrelevant — fully tell the game’s story without including Schilling? It can’t, in my opinion.

8. Curt Schilling If it’s possible to put his myriad post-retirement controversies aside, there shouldn’t be any controversy over his on-field greatness. By the way, if you saw the report that “numerous” Hall voters tried to change their Schilling vote to a No after the Capitol riot, it was actually just one, and the Hall correctly didn’t switch it.

The guess here is that Curt, who should be admitted to the HOF, will be denied as he is a staunch conservative.
They should remove voting for the HOF from the press because they are so hateful, political, and not objective. Let the fans decide.
The only way to be hellbound is to reject Christ's saving grace through the cross.
I am disgusted, but not surprised, by the judgmentalism of the tolerancists.

I hear this about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame now and then. “Well Ike Turner should be taken out of there, so should Phil Spector, so should Michael Jackson, so should David Bowie and Led Zeppelin, so should Alan Freed, so should Chuck Berry, so should...”
Such utter nonsense!
If we go by Christian purity, ZERO people would be in the ROCK ‘n’ ROLL HOF! No way!
I don’t know about what they accuse him of. I’m always suspicious of accusations regarding PCness.
I do know he was a great player, a brave player, and my husband knew him as a down-to-earth guy who interacted with many regular people through war-gaming.
If he’s that terrible, no HOF. But if it’s just some remarks? Who cares. HOF.
Pat Boone belongs in there. Fats Domino has said his career wouldn’t have gotten the attention without Pat’s pale covers.
I wonder how it evolved, that baseball writers are the ones who vote for the hall of fame?
Yes he has actually made some conservative statements and was pro-Trump. The horror!
I could list many many Hall of Fame residents across several sports (Lawrence Taylor? Ty Cobb?) who had serious off-the-field issues. Why should Schilling be punished?
So what’s the deal? Do we evaluate only the performance on the field? If so then Clemens and Bonds would be in.
I heard Omar Visquel (sp?) Lost some support among Hall o Fame.voters based on domestic violence allegations.
And we hear how Curt Schilling has lost support due to politcs.
Did Schilling in fact call for the murder of journalists? Did he explicitly support storming the capitol building, or just support the rally?
