My friend got a sweet labradoodle that had gone through 2 homes and he hit pay dirt with my friend. The first home had 6 kids..... She has had FINN for 6 years now and he is happy as can be..(he’s an only child and spoiled rotten)
Because if you combine those, you get Sch-Tr-oodle = "Strudel". So that's what he was.
Here he is on his first day at his new home ---
It's ironic I'm posting about him on FR, because he owed his new home indirectly to a visit that JimRob & Mrs. JimRob & John made to our burg to Freep with our local FR chapter a few days before we adopted our little guy. Long story, so I won't get into it, but in the same folder as the photo above is this ... I've cropped it to include Mr & Mrs JimRob ---
Between them is my Freeper sister holding 2 homemade signs. She's the one who first told me about FR and got me hooked on it. Her last FR post was around a month before she passed away of endometrial cancer complications in 2017. Been a rough 3 years for us - Jun '17 to Jul '20 - for the deaths of 5 loved ones, all of whom lived close and who we saw all the time ... my sister, then my Mom, then our little guy above last Jan, then my wife's Mom who died of Covid in March, then my Dad who died in July not of Covid but rather of the Covid lockdown.
Partially filling the hole is the young female Schnoodle who my sister left in our charge. She's a real cutie, and has many more years to live .... we hope. She has never once been alone outside ... maybe that makes us "Helicopter Dog Parents"? We do have good excuses for our behavior though == the coyotes & foxes & a bobcat who live / prowl nearby in a small Natural Area where they feed mostly off rabbits. A mountain lion was treed 1/3 of a mile from our home today, and I have to wonder about neighbors near us who leave their dogs out in fenced yards for long periods of time.
