RE: this guy’s name rings a bell. Didn’t he write at least one big anti-Trump screed before the election, telling Christians why he could not vote for Trump?
NO, just the opposite. Dr. Michael Brown was a huge Trump supporter, publicly endorsed voting for Trump, and even refuted other pastors like John Piper for opposing him.
- Jan. 16, 2021: "I recall tweeting the #NeverTrump hashtag one time during the 2016 primaries when I was at the height of my anti-Trump sentiments... I have always respected many of those in the Never Trump camp, like David French, understanding the conflict they had with a vote for Trump...These Never Trumpers must be feeling quite vindicated today, as some of their warnings and concerns have come to fruition...There’s also the practical side, namely, that Trump turns 75 in June, and even with all his vigor and energy, it doesn’t make much sense to look forward to a 78-year-old waging a massive battle for the presidency in 2024." [ ed. note: Xiden is 78.]
- Jan. 14, 2021: "Did we sell our souls by voting for Trump? Did we make a deal with the devil that was bound to end in failure and disgrace?...And what of our witness and our integrity? What would be the lasting effects of our association with Trump? Perhaps we would see some policy advances, but at what cost?...Those were the questions many of us wrestled with, and that’s one reason I opposed Trump during the 2016 Republican primaries, as did many of you. We thought there were much better choices...On the other hand, we are now left with a real, national mess, with the balance of power shifting dramatically left, and with the country as a whole vulgarized in many ways by the Trump presidency."

That was only after Trump was in office. Before he a pious never Trumper scolding others for picking him in the primaries.
