Haven’t figured it out for sure, but my guess right now is that it is pointing out at you from the center of the circle. With you sitting on the equator? I’ll sleep on it & will probably have a different guess in the morning.
If you click on the APOD site, below the picture there is a DISCUS button, but the experts haven’t discussed your issue yet.
