I have found this most difficult.
I don’t and have never used Facebook or Twitter, and I have divested myself of all Google-YouTube voluntary things I can. I had just begun using Waze a few months back, and when I discovered it was owned by Google, dropped it like a rock.
And I use DuckDuckGo everywhere else.
But I am having trouble with YouTube. There is so much that is only available on YouTube, and I am finding it increasingly difficult to view content on links sent to me unless I sign in, which I refuse to set up an account and do. So if I get a YouTube link and can see it, that is great. If not, I simply don’t watch it.
I use a VPN service, and Google was making me use a Captcha EVERY time I did a search...choose all the images with traffic lights, etc. Sometime I would have to go through crosswalks, traffic lights, and cars before I could get a result, so I said Eff Them.
Set up a Gmail(google) account that allows you to do google related stuff. A couple of alias accounts are handy. And can be kept sterile of anything meaningful. Use their free crap against them to benifit you.
