HOW can a utility just up and change the rate??? Mine is set at .08799 per kilowatt of usage. Yes, the more I use the higher it’ll be, but they can’t just say ‘oh we’re gonna charge $5 per kilowatt because it’s been so cold’!

Did they import the energy from Canada or something?

We can’t import here because we aren’t federally regulated. There are choices here, so I guess the variable plans are the ones that jumped.
My son says there’s estimated $30 billion in damages to homes and businesses. We got a check from FEMA so hope that help goes to those affected.
