***I read BTT that Chucky announced that the trial starts on Feb. 8th***

The Constitution requires that the Senate drop all other business and attend to impeachment immediately. Obviously the Senate will break a number of rules in their unbalanced hatred of Donald Trump.

I have posted often that the Constitution is no longer a factor; the Demo'rats will inform us about what is legal and what is not.

As long as Bitem is charading as president and the stolen House and Senate keep up their theater of the (evil) absurd, they will be breaking federal laws right and left without care.

The Constitution is silent on when proceedings should start.

The senate rules determine when the trial shall start.

The Senate has violated their own "immediately" rules. Here's an interpretation of that(revised 1/21/2021):( I always felt this place was big-time lefty)
https://crsreports.congress.gov/product/pdf/R/R46185

The Senate, by unanimous consent, establishes a time for the House Managers to present the articles of impeachment to the Senate. Impeachment Rule I provides that the “Secretary of the Senate shall immediately inform the House of Representatives that the Senate is ready to receive the managers.” Instead of following the letter of the rule, however, the Senate reaches a unanimous consent agreement that sets a specific time for the Secretary to invite the House managers to appear. The time agreed upon in modern trials has been within a day or two of receipt of the House message. Scheduling a time is more convenient for all Senators, and these unanimous consent agreements have been reached within the context of a rule that appears to require immediate action.

It's unclear to me if they can (or would) vote to dismiss?
