My clock had [inauguration] beginning at 1148 so 12 minutes ahead of time.

I’m sure you’re correct. I estimated based on when my stomach couldn’t take any more and I stopped watching, but I should have backed it up to account for the couple of minutes it was churning before that.

Regardless of whether it was 10 or 12 minutes early ... I cannot understand this & there seems to be nothing about it. There is lore about how such things are timed and how, for a moment, there is a point, albeit seconds or minutes, where things are in flight. But before the appointed hour? That’s what historically they’ve calculated to ensure that the oath is taken right at the moment & immediately thereafter - not preempting! I don’t see how John Roberts can do that, he’s administering an invalid oath at an improper time and doesn’t object or say anything about it? It’s inexplicable!
