Even if every American secessionist lived in the same state they wouldn't have the power necessary to force a vote on the issue in any state legislature. There is just no popular support for secession in the United states.
Right now there is massive normalcy bias.
Things change.
If Bidet causes a major depression (and I mean an extended multi-year 25% + drop in GDP) and it hits some states much harder than others, then the unthinkable may become thinkable.
Secession will require large parts of the population unemployed with no hope and nothing to lose.
It is very popular. And that popularity is growing!! Free Republic is the only place where the idea of secession is not popular.
