That is an excellent question. I just finished arguing my position on tha subject with my sister-in-law who shares your view. Or what I assume is your view.
My view is that those troops are in Washington D.C. to protect Biden from those crazy right-wing Trump supports that we read about in the NYT and get lectured about by CNN, NBC, the MSM and a few billionaires.
This is all nonsense, of course, but it makes great theater. The idea that Trump can command those troops for his own personal gain is not helping our side. It just adds to the Crazy Trump Narrative of the Left and is used to justify the huge military presence in D.C.
The real concern should be that the Dems will stage a phony coup attempt and lure some of us into it. That will not turn out well for side if it happens.
