I was an Army Brat, age 10, but never picked up a guitar...

That’s got the same beat as “Hand Jive”.

“ thanks to my amazing library system and CD burners I have a collection of over 5,000 songs on CD”

What is it that you think I’m missing from the above text?

Where does he say CD’s are better than thumb drives?

Back in the day there were no thumb drives.

I love that!

I’m hoping to do another music survey. But I have to figure how I can do it this time. I’d like to use those polling sites to help.

I’m also thinking of starting with the ‘50s this time, because it’s the oldest and I want max participation. Can’t let too much more time pass by or we’ll lose our most likely participants!

Over the years, I have built a huge collection of music in analog formats but have been slowly moving into the 21st century, building a collection of music on USB sticks. So far, most of the music I have gathered for these devices is from Youtube, converted to the MP3 format using a converter or with Audacity, and I have also ripped a few of my CD's.

However, I need to find a good method to digitize thousands of cassettes, 78's, 45's and 33's in my collection. A Zoom audio recorder that records onto a memory card appears to be a good method.

They’re also one of the very few acts who can pull off both slow and fast styles! I find most acts cannot do this, not for me, anyway.

Today is 2021—not, “back in the day.” CD-RWs have a very short lifespan, to boot. Copying all to a bulk storage medium would allow both instantaneous access to the entire library, and the ability to make a backup.

I’d say yes, me too.

But I was satisfied with my coming of age in the ‘80s. It was the last blast of freedom, no stupid safety regulations and high anxiety limiting our fun. No helmets, no seatbelts, no “booster seats” for the car, can sit in the front and in the flat back of a real station wagon and the truck bed. Real looking guns we could actually play with, playgrounds with monkey bars and bounces platforms. Oh the horror!

My father used to mock this song by claiming the lyric “Gee Whiz” was actually “Cheez Whiz”.

And one can start by calling the Leftists the No-Fun Party.

The only fun leftists absolutely LOOOOVE is sex and drugs. Oh they love the sinful stuff that ruins people’s lives. But riding without a helmet? Go to jail!

I have a lot of stuff on such media. Looks like it will have to migrate.

I'm lucky enough to live in an area that has a consortium of public libraries that, together, probably have 10,000 (or more) CDs. Their website is completely searchable by author (or artist,in the case of music),title, etc, etc. Using this website, and my CD burner,I was, over time, able to amass a 5,000+ collection of songs, all of which I like.

And now, having gotten them on CD,I can play them on my stereo and convert individual tracks into MP3 format for my phone and my car's hard drive.

So I get the best sound quality at home (CD,SACD and DVD-Audio have the best sound quality) and great music on my phone and in my car.

I love music enough to have the attitude "if it's good enough to own I'll own it in its most faithful form".

I have the same attitude with videos...no streaming for me.I want Goodfellas (and many, many other films) on my shelf and in its most faithful format....meaning bluray and 4K.

But others may disagree.
