Semper Fi, Marine. Enter into your well-earned rest.
God bless Dorothy Schmidt Cole and all of the greatest WWII generation who realized and understood that there are precious things like liberty and freedom worth protecting.
Those who have served and especially the ones who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country are probably rolling over in their sacred resting sites at what is about to happen to this Republic next week.
BTW, I had a wonderful aunt (my mother’s older sister), also named Dorothy Elizabeth Heinz who was a Navy nurse. She was born July 27, 1913 and passed away on July 17, 2013, just 10 days shy of turning 100 years old. She and I were particularly close as she never had any children and I was born when she was almost 47.
