To: Secret Agent Man

Well, you have to adjust mortality expectations for age. My mother is 90 and will be getting a shot next week, before moving into an assisted living facility. What is her risk of dying in three weeks, absent anything to do with COVID (the virus or the vaccine)? Probably higher than I want to think about.

its pretty simple.

it depends on her pre existing conditions and current health and how they manage their care

because while the oldest age demo is the worst hit, almost all of them had one or more pre-existing conditions, the healthiest ones are not the ones doing the dying.

My mom is 88 and in assisted living now. She got the vaccine and had no problems. At 88 and not well, like you, I don’t dwell on life expectancy.
