That should have been on video. LOL.
They were heavy drinkers for a while. When my sister-in-law came to visit she bought a case of beer that my brother-in-law likes that is not available where they live. She wanted me to send it to them, but the shipping was going to cast around $50. So instead I took the case of beer to my neighbors because I though that they could make good use of it. When he answered the door and offered it to him, he started yelling at me in what seemed to me to be a funny Die Hard type dialogue claiming that no one in his household drank alcoholic beverages of any kind. I was completely baffled, but thought that this was one of his usual attempts at humor. I didn't realize that he had recently had some difficulty with the authorities over a Driving Under the Influence situation.
To continue what I thought was a joke, I replied, “That's alright I'll just take it over to the alcoholics that live on the other side of us.” In my line of work I have heard very creative strings of obscenities on many occasions, but I do not think that even Bruce Willis would have been capable of delivering such a convincing and animated performance as what I heard next. At first I started laughing but as he lunged at me with obvious and genuine rage threatening to rip me to pieces only in much more graphic terms... the beer and I quickly departed. I took it to the alcoholics that lived on the other side of us and they seemed genuinely touched by the gesture of kindness.
