This is exactly what life under Communism was like.

It was just living your life fearful of what you say, wondering if the person next to you will turn you in. And also knowing that pretty much everything you hear on the news is complete BS.

You really should be trusting anyone anyway. Almost everyone in the media, even if they appear to be centrist or right of center now, are going to make calculated moves in the future based on market forces, revenue sources, and even (unfortunately) political pressures.
