Likely hoping to avoid shutdown.
I’ve seen the site attacked not for its articles but the comments section. Who the heck is posting there? Could be anyone.
So let’s say you want the Feds or a browser company or advertiser to shut down and destroy a website, go in and post comments encouraging violence. Then, as we saw with Parler, the site can be taken down or later be subjected to criminal prosecution for encouraging violence.
Hate speech is non speech.
Freedom is slavery.
2+2=5.
And possibly DOS attack.
The comments on BB do get a bit wild at times, personal attacks and so on. Since the election there seem to be to be a lot more lefties posting making snide comments, mocking conservatives and President Trump.

The problem is that there is NO regulation on speech, which is why private and public companies that provide communications platforms can regulate speech to whatever norms they want to apply, if they have Admin Control over their enterprise.
However, I do see an opening of attack by ‘commercial’ victims of these tech tyrants. And that is in the area of “commerce”. If they take actions that are deemed commercially punitive resulting in harm and injury with no basis of contractual violations by the alleged offending party, then they should be able to be sued.
All my comments, no matter how innocuous, are put on hold. Several have been deleted.
